Stepping out of your comfort zone… Well, I guess this one may be a little bit of a stretch, but I have been thinking of how a recent experience of mine would relate to success in business. One of the things on my “bucket list” was to go skydiving. On March 5, 2011 I was able to cross that one off the list. I will admit that I had some hesitation, nervousness, and the waivers that you are required to sign have probably turned some people away. However, irregardless of that I ended up jumping out of a perfectly good airplane at 13,000 feet and it was an incredible experience. Do you have fears that are holding you back? Are there things that you have not done because you are concerned about the risk? In the current economy, some businesses are like a deer caught in the headlights. That can be a dangerous proposition. I think it is important to take a calculated action to continue moving in the direction of ones goals. I am not saying that you have to jump out of an airplane, but I just want to pose the question: Are you letting fear get in the way? Are you delaying taking an action to grow your business because you are afraid of the downside risk? Of course, there are no guarantees and part of the exhilaration of skydiving is after my safe landing thinking, “this is great, I am still alive” So, all I am saying is that I think it is important to go outside our comfort zone once in a while and make something happen! Think about what is holding you back from taking your business to the next level.
